The CMMA Award of Accreditation recognizes and validates a member’s credentials as a media manager. The Award of Accreditation is given only to those members who pass the application and oral review process.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be a premium member, in good standing AND
• A member for a minimum of two years AND
• A current manager of a media communications related team AND
• Must complete the accreditation application with a minimum score of 150 points

Maintenance of Accreditation
The CMMA Award of Accreditation must be maintained through continued education and participation in leadership activities.

Process

  • Applicants complete the accreditation application that details the member’s achievements as a media manager, contributions to the field of media communications, and contributions to CMMA.
  • The form must be submitted, along with all supporting materials, to the CMMA Executive Director.
  • The application form will be reviewed and verified by the CMMA Accreditation Board.
  • Following the review, the chair will schedule the oral review portion.
  • The oral examination, conducted by a quorum of the CMMA Accreditation Board members, will assess the applicant’s experiential history through a series of standardized questions.
  • A minimum score of 70 (out of 100) is required for successful completion of the oral review.
  • Applicants who achieved a minimum of 150 on the written application and 70 on the oral review will be recommended by the chair of the CMMA Accreditation Board to the CMMA Board of Directors.
  • Applicants that did not achieve the minimum scores required will be notified by the Accreditation Board chairperson.
  • Based on the recommendation of the Accreditation Board, an affirmative vote of a quorum of the CMMA Board of Directors is required to grant the Award of Accreditation.

Acknowledgement of Accreditation

Recipients of the Award of Accreditation will be acknowledged in the following manner:

  • The CMMA President and/or the chair of the CMMA Accreditation Board will present the award to the recipient at the President’s Dinner, at the first national meeting the recipient attends after the award is granted.
  • If the recipient is unable to attend a national conference, they will be recognized at the President’s Dinner and the Executive Director will send the award to their home address.
  • Joint letters, signed by the CMMA President and the Accreditation Board chair, acknowledging the Award of Accreditation, will be sent to two managers or executives, as selected by the recipient, at the recipient's place of employment.
  • A press release announcing the award will be sent to a local media outlet and social media as selected by the recipient (optional).
  • The designation “Accredited Media Leader” (AML) may be used by the recipient in all business and personal correspondence, business communications and professional publications.
  • The designation “AML” will appear in all CMMA print and electronic allusions referring to the recipient, including, but not limited to:
  • CMMA membership directory
  • Conference programs, badges, and attendee lists
  • Press releases and promotional material
